Needle Galaxy (NGC 4565)

This is an edge-on view of a spiral Galaxy, around 43 million light years away. It is being photobombed by another galaxy to the bottom right, NGC4562, which is around 35 million light years away. To me, The Needle looks like something from a 1950s sci-fi movie.

Total exposure: 5hrs 20mins
Luminance 23x300
Red 16x300
Green 12x300
Blue 13x300

I love the way extra galaxies can become inadvertently caught in the field of view…
