Western Veil (NGC 6960)

Western Veil Nebula, AKA ‘The Witch’s Broom’, or ‘Finger of God’. In the constellation on Cygnus, this is a supernova from a giant star, 20 times the size of the sun, that went BOOM! and blasted gas and dust into space.

This is the first nebula I imaged and you can see that rookie attempt below. I loved this image because I was amazed that something so distant and delicate could even register on my camera.

Here you can see the wider Cygnus Loop shape with gas and dust seeming to billow out from a central point.
